Happy New Year to All in Garden.ie

31 December 2017 19:31:32

I wish you all a very happy New year and plenty of good gardening. I wonder where everyone is gone. I got the January issue of the Irish Garden when I got back  from Dublin on Friday. It was interesting to see the article about Cormac's garden. One would hardlyfeel that such plants as his would grow in Ireland and yet he was able to grow them in one of the most northerly counties.  I spent a week in my sister's house, near Clonee on the Dublin Meath border. There was plenty to be done when I got home. I would say that my friend the robin was so pleased that I got back. One of the first things i plan is to get some tomato seed and get it sown. Another, provided the weather is good is to prune the roses.

Many happy returns Dick, I hope its a healthy and happy year for you. I am hoping for a dry spell soon myself, lots of rose pruning to be done here too

Thank you all, Jackie, Joan and Joann, I have done very little with the roses. I finished pruning one bush but there are over 100 there. It's raining to day although fairly mild but as a result of the rain no work done outside. The forecast tells us that it will be mixed. a Happy New Year to you. Johnstown will be out as I don't drive a lot at the moment. I hope you all enjoy it.

Happy New Year Dick, look forward to hearing your updates on the tomatoes. I never grow them as I dont eat them but i'm always fascinated how early you start yours and how great they do.
