About my garden: I moved back to Rathnure and to this house ten years ago. There was no garden worth talking about so I set about the task of removing loads of builders rubble, stones and thistles.The back garden is divided into the working garden and the sunny, sheltered and private space behind the house known to us as Bad mein Garten. My partner John did the heavy jobs like putting up fences making gates and of course some digging not that I'm afraid of the old spade myself! We put in the pond a year later and made a raised bed with the extra soil.The pond is always a big hit with visiting children as it houses some goldfish, water spiders and even the odd mayfly. I have a tunnel which is one of my favorite places as you can always potter in there even when our irish weather is acting up.I grow a bit of everything,sometimes with success sometimes not. This years adventure is egg plants and they are doing very well. I have some lovely yellow tomatoes ( lemon tree) which I keep seeds from each yea
